Walter Carrington Demonstrates Chair-Work
Notes:
- Walter trained with FM Alexander from the outset. He was the head of what is termed the "Carrington School" of teaching.
- He smashed both of his hips in a plane crash in the War and consequently had artificial hip joints. He was approximately 85 when this was filmed.
- As always, the movement is preceded by freeing the neck so that the head can go forward and up and the back can lengthen and widen.
- Using his hands to make minor corrections here and there, Walter waits until the pupil is ready before stimulating him into activity.
- He riminds the pupil not to "do" anything.
